GUEST POST by Michelle – editor of Cosmetic Cupcake.
I was very excited to be asked to create a Christmas manicure for Face of Australia using their great range of nail polishes. I absolutely love doing celebration manicures so I couldn’t decide what to do! A festive manicure is a great way to get into the spirit of Christmas without being too over the top. Plus it’s a lot of fun!
Do it yourself nail art doesn’t have to be scary and the festive season is a great time to try something new. You can go as simple or as crazy as you like and still have fun! For this manicure I chose five different nail designs that you can try at home too. I used nail polishes from the Molten Metallics, Colour Pro and Brights collections and I hope you enjoy the manicure

For my pinky, I used 2 coats of Molten Metallics Titanium ($4.95) and added a cute Christmas tree nail decal. You can find nail decails from eBay for a few dollars.

For my ring finger I used 2 coats of Colour Pro Cool Cotton ($6.95) for a white base. I then used a small nail art brush to draw in the holly using Molten Metallics Verdigris ($4.95) and added some round red rhinestones for the berries. I find you don’t have to be very neat with the holly and just the general shape will do!
(Cool Cotton available in all FOA stockists; Verdigris available here)
For my middle finger I wanted to create a snowman! I used 2 coats of Brights Show Pony ($4.95) for a pastel blue base. I then used Colour Pro Cool Cotton ($6.95) and a large sized dotting tool to create two different sized circles for the snowman’s body and head. If you don’t have a dotting tool you can easily use the end of a bobby pin instead.
(Purchase Show Pony here)
For the snowman’s hat, I used a small nail art brush dipped in Colour Pro Scream ($6.95). I also used Scream to create the eyes and buttons using a very small sized dotting tool (a toothpick would be great for this too). For the scarf I used Molten Metallics Amethyst ($4.95) and orange acrylic paint for the carrot nose however you can use Brights Last Call ($4.95) which is a bright orange polish instead.
(Scream available in all FOA stockists; Amethyst available here and Last Call available here)
My index finger is candy cane inspired! I used 1 coat of Colour Pro Lady in Red ($6.95) as a base and a white nail art striper polish (a polish with a long thin brush for drawing lines) to draw diagonal lines. This is super simple to do and it looks fantastic! It’s my favourite Christmas design and without fail I do it every year.
(Lady In Red and Cool Cotton both available in all FOA stockists)
For my thumb I sponged Molten Metallics Gold ($4.95) on the top half of my nail and stamped 2 different snowflake designs from Konad plate m59 using white polish. If you don’t have a nail stamping kit you can use a small nail art brush or a striper polish to draw in snowflakes yourself using a white polish.
(Gold available here)
I topped it all off with a coat of topcoat to protect my designs and I was done!

My name is ‘chelle and I am a 20 something Registered Nurse from Sydney, Australia. I am currently working full time at one of the major teaching hospitals in Sydney and polishing my nails allows me to relax and unwind.
I am passionate about all things beauty with an unhealthy obsession with nail polish. I love makeup and fashion although my job doesn’t allow me time to fully enjoy these two loves properly. I am a mean bargain shopper and often purchase loads of things I don’t need. My other great love besides nail polish (and my fiancé!) is good food and plenty of it.
On my blog, you’ll see nail art, beauty reviews and some of my yummy food adventures mixed in as well – Cosmetic Cupcake.
